The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox, available at your local Chevy dealership, is a small SUV with a big attitude regarding safety. Thanks to Chevy Safety Assist, you always have a second pair of eyes on the road while you’re driving. The suite is standard, and there are additional safety features besides the ones we will cover below.

  1. Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency BrakingSilver 2024 Chevy Equinox left side profile with a blurred colorful background | Vancouver, WA

Your Equinox monitors the road as you drive to make sure you’re not in danger of crashing. If your car detects that you’re about to hit the car in front of you, then it’ll send you an alert so you can intervene. The feature also has an automatic emergency braking function built into it, allowing your car to activate the brakes and prevent the crash or reduce the impact of the collision if you don’t have time to intervene yourself.

 2. Front Pedestrian Braking

Front Pedestrian Braking works just like the feature above, except it detects pedestrians instead of other vehicles. It sends you an alert if you’re about to collide with a pedestrian at speeds between five and 50 mph, but it knows there isn’t always time to respond to the alert. If you can’t respond, then the feature can provide hard emergency braking. It can also enhance your own hard braking.

3. Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning

Your Equinox can detect the lane lines while you’re driving, so it knows when you begin to drift out of your lane. The system attempts to tell the difference between an accidental and deliberate lane departure, and it won’t intervene when you’re using your turn signal. However, if the system detects you may be accidentally moving out of your lane, then it’ll briefly and gently turn your steering wheel to alert you of the issue.

4. Following Distance Indicator

The Following Distance Indicator makes it easier to ensure you’re always far enough away from the car ahead. It shows you how long it would take you to crash into the vehicle ahead of you, and it can be toggled on and off as desired.

5. Auto High Beams

When you turn on the auto high beams function of your vehicle, your vehicle will leave the high beams on until you no longer need them, and then it switches them on and off as needed.
